The history of the journal

The scientific and practical collected volume “Forensic Herald” was founded by the State Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine together with the National Academy of Internal Affairs in 2003.

 In August 2003, it was officially registered by the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine as a print media source.

By the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine of June 8, 2005, No 2-05/5, the scientific and practical collected volume “Forensic Herald” was included in the list of scientific professional publications of Ukraine, which may publish the results of dissertations for the degree of Doctor and Candidate of Sciences / Doctor of Philosophy.

In December 2006, the international center ISSN assigned the international number ISSN 1992-4437 to the collected volume.

By Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No 241 of March 9, 2016, the collected volume was included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine in Legal Sciences, and by Order No 886 of July 2, 2020, it was included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine in category “B”. Branch of Sciences – Legal, Specialty – 081 “Law”.

By the decision of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting of November 23, 2023 No 1470, protocol No 28, the scientific and practical collected volume “Forensic Herald” was included in the Register of entities in the field of print media and assigned the identifier R30-02058.

Over the years, the collected volume has been repeatedly awarded various diplomas among professional scientific publications, in particular, in March 2020, the All-Ukrainian competition for the best legal publication was held, where the scientific and practical collected volume “Forensic Herald” received a second degree diploma in the nomination “Periodicals”. In October of the same year, the Competition for the best scientific, scientific-technical and vocational guidance products in the apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, territorial bodies, institutions, establishments and enterprises belonging to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine awarded the collected volume with a third degree diploma in the nomination “Scientific Periodicals”. In May 2024, for the first time, Forensic Herald took part in the II National competition of scientific and educational publications on law, security and European integration “Jurydyka” and won an honorable III place in the nomination “Scientific journal on European integration”.

Thematic focus is the scientific support of the legislative process in the field of expert activity, coverage of the results of comprehensive research of theoretical and methodological foundations of the expert process of detection and investigation of criminal offenses aimed at improving the existing and development of a new expert and evidentiary research base, expanding its range, increasing the knowledge intensity and reliability, as well as the results of applied scientific research in the field of development of expert technologies and the latest high-precision specialty.

The collected volume publishes scientific papers on theoretical, methodological, regulatory, practical, historical, organizational problems of forensic examination and criminalistics. The positive experience of forensic research and the integration of new knowledge in the field of forensic science is highlighted.

It is addressed to the specialists in forensic and technical forensic support of law enforcement agencies in the prevention of offenses, their detection and investigation, as well as to scientists, teachers, cadets, students and students of legal educational institutions.

Scientific articles are published free of charge twice a year.
