The purpose of the article is to scientifically substantiate and form the regulatory framework and a list of
regulations that will ensure the maximum possible degree of completeness of expert research and solve the current
scientific and practical problem of establishing compliance with actual existing in educational institutions furniture
for NUS current requirements for this furniture product. Methodology. The reliability of the results and conclusions
of this theoretical study is ensured by using a set of general scientific (analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction,
analogy and modeling, abstraction and concretization, systems analysis) and special methods of cognition (thought
experiment, idealization, formalization, generalization, convergence). Scientific novelty. For the first time in the
domestic forensic commodity examination: the general requirements to the basic consumer properties of furniture
for NUS which formulate satisfaction of needs of reform of education in Ukraine are formulated; a scientifically
substantiated nomenclature of normative documents necessary for a forensic expert to conduct a full study and provide
an objective opinion on the compliance of standardized indicators of consumer properties of furniture for the New
Ukrainian School to the requirements of current state standards of Ukraine. Conclusions. The results of research work
and generalization of practical experience of the L’viv Scientific Research Forensic Center MIA of Ukraine proved that
the scientific-theoretical and practical problem of commodity research of furniture for the New Ukrainian school
(NUS) needs to be solved immediately. At the same time, it was stated that the reconnaissance in this direction was
carried out in three stages. The first focuses on the disclosure of commodity features of furniture for NUS; analysis of
current normative documents on furniture for NUS in Ukraine and formation of normative-legal and normative base
of research. The second and third stages provide for the development of general provisions (conceptual apparatus,
classification, commodity characteristics, etc.) and establishing compliance of furniture for NUS with the requirements
of current state standards of Ukraine – their results will be covered in separate reports. Commodity characteristics
of furniture for NUS are singled out, among which the main ones are: functionality and comfort; compliance of
anthropometry, physiology and psychology of schoolchildren, as well as a set of subjects of NUS as an educational
environment; manufacturing on a unified basis; environmental friendliness; reliability, durability, maintainability. At
the same time, the peculiarities of the study of conformity of furniture for NUS to the current requirements are
revealed, which consist in the formation of the nomenclature of normative-legal and normative documents to be used
when drawing up the forensic expert’s opinion. However, in order to establish the conformity of the studied furniture
for NUS to the current requirements of the forensic commodity expert, it is necessary to form four conditional groups
of information sources and relevant documents (general theoretical, normative-legal, normative and provided by
the initiator). The list of normative-legal and normative documents for establishment by forensic expert-commodity
expert of conformity of tables and chairs for NUS to current requirements is offered: DSTU 3993-2000. Commodity
science. Terms and definitions; DSTU 2080-92. Furniture products. Terms and definitions; “Commodity science. Nonfood products: furniture” (textbook); “Forensic examination of furniture” (manual); Methodical recommendations on the organization of the educational space of the New Ukrainian school; Requirements for school furniture for the New Ukrainian School; The only purchasing dictionary. DK 021: 2015; DSTU GOST 16371: 2016. Furniture. General technical conditions; DSTU GOST 22046: 2004. Furniture for educational institutions. General technical conditions;
GOST 11015-93 (ISO 5970-79). Student tables. Types and functional dimensions; GOST 11016-93 (ISO 5970-79).
School chairs. Types and functional dimensions; specification to the tender documentation (provided by the initiator).
In addition, it should be emphasized that the results of the study deepen the methodological, regulatory and practical
issues of forensic science, which contribute to the development of the information base of forensic science through the
widespread use of state standards of Ukraine.
