The main types of responsibility are classified with law branches in the system of legal liability as signs of procedural status. They can be applied to a forensic expert of a state specialized agency for non-fulfillment or defective performance of their functional duties. The grounds and procedure for bringing a forensic expert to each type of responsibility are systematized. The proposals on improving the legislation provisions on liability in forensic expert activity are given. This is in particular the establishment of legal rules, which will include liability for failure to provide, or provide on time an application for self-disqualification in the presence of the grounds set out in procedural law. The expediency of introducing ethic standards of a forensic expert is substantiated.
