Abstract

The article raises the issue of jewelry research as objects of commodity expertise, which requires a
comprehensive approach and the involvement of narrow-profile specialists, appraisers, jewelers, gemologists, and
chemists. It is stated that such products can belong to high jewelry, have a high value and require comprehensive
research with special attention to detail. The purpose of the article is to determine the features of jewelry of famed global
brands as objects of commodity expertise. The methodological basis of the research is general scientific and special
methods, in particular, dialectical, systemic analysis, synthesis, theoretical generalization. The scientific novelty of the
obtained results lies in the development of a sequence of investigation of a branded jewelry item and determination
of its value, which begins only after a forensic expert in the field of commodity studies determines the originality of
its origin. In addition, the possibilities and prospects of using special knowledge in the form of forensic commodity
examination during the research of branded jewelry and determining its value are highlighted; the peculiarity of elite
jewelry are analyzed using the example of exclusive luxury jewelry of the best jewelry brands of the world scale – such
as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Boucheron, Tiffani & Co, Graff, Chopard, Bulgari (Bvlgari). Companies use an Internet
resource to publicize their unique collections of jewelry, which indicates a certain information security for the tasks
of commodity examination. The practical significance of the research lies in the development of foundations and
recommendations that can be used by experts during famous brands jewelry research
